Dermplaning is relatively new in the UK but has been used in the US for many years primarily as a non-invasive alternative to chemical peels. It has recently become a sought after treatment in the UK because it removes surface dead/keratinised skin cells & unwanted facial hair leaving the skin with a clear healthy glow as well as leaving the skin incredibly soft and smooth. It is a non-traumatic method of skin rejuvenation which can accentuate facial features and make clients look slimmer & allows topical treatments to be absorbed more readily into the deeper layers of the skin. It is a great exfoliation treatment for extremely sensitive skin, redness or rosacea, or visible facial veins & is a more affordable treatment for clients compared to chemical peels or laser treatment. An average price for a derma-planing treatment is between £60-£100 dependant on location and lasts about four weeks so for the therapist it is a treatment that clients will return for regular facials with deramplaning & will see visible improvements over time so can bring a therapist additional revenue quickly increasing income & turnover considerably.
Dermaplaning is performed using a sterile surgical scalpel held at a 45-degree angle & is often referred to as facial shaving. Sessions take no longer than 30 minutes have no adverse effects and are completely pain-free.
Dermaplaning has been featured across magazines including Elle and Cosmopolitan. Kristen Noel Crawley from Elle told readers, ‘The treatment got rid of my gnarly sideburns with just a few passes—and best of all, it’s painless. It felt quite relaxing, actually, like little baby hands running across my face.’ Whilst Cosmo’s Brooke Shunatona boasts, ‘It’ll change your life as far as makeup application goes.’
